Masco Corporation Subsidiary Files Bad Faith Suit against Illinois Union Insurance Company

January 31, 2011 – Washington - Milgard Manufacturing Inc, subsidiary of the Masco Corporation (NYSE: MAS) that produces windows and doors, recently filed a complaint against Illinois Union claiming that Illinois Union has improperly denied coverage for legal defense and indemnification.

ACE, Three Other Insurance Groups Pay Nearly $120 Million for Overcharges

January 21, 2011 - Insurance companies operating under the ACE Group banner will pay a total of $70 million to wrap up a probe by New York authorities into overbilling of worker’s compensation policyholders.

Westchester Surplus Lines Named As Co-Defendant in Multiple FEMA Toxic Trailer Cases Since December 2009

October 25, 2010 - Westchester Surplus Lines, a subsidiary of Zurich-based ACE, Ltd. Insurance Company, has now been named as co-defendant in at least 18 “FEMA Toxic Trailer” cases. The lawsuits relate to mobile homes and trailers that were provided to victims of hurricane Katrina by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Busted by the Camera-Phone, ACE's Toe-Tapping Lawyer

July 30, 2010 - In a Florida case,  ACE's lead lawyer Kenneth Engerrand, with ACE in-house counsel John Roth observing, was recently caught "tapping" the foot of an ACE employee witness apparently to "coach" her sworn deposition testimony. The witness was an ACE claims adjuster involved in a large marine claim stemming from hurricane Wilma.

ACE Subsidiary and BP named as Defendants in RICO Class Action Over Oil Spill Claims

The ACE Insurance Group company ESIS has come under scrutiny for its handling of claims made by victims of the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Earlier this year, BP engaged ESIS to help process claims made by oil spill victims.
