NEW YORK, Aug 27, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --, an aggregator of lawsuits and other legal claims against the international insurance conglomerate ACE Limited (ACE 54.18, +0.74, +1.39%) , today reports on its website, that ACE's subsidiary ESIS was dismissed as the BP oil spill claims administrator by Kenneth Feinberg, the White House oil spill "claims czar." The insurance giant and its subsidiary must now answer to charges of wrongdoing while handling BP's claim process, including a RICO racketeering class action lawsuit recently filed on behalf of the State of Alabama alleging that claims made by oil spill victims have been fraudulently diminished and delayed. Further shining a bright light on ACE's business practices and litigation tactics, has posted a photo revealing ACE engaging in potential witness tampering. In the photograph, ACE lawyer Kenneth Engerrand of Brown Sims, P.C. appears to be "tapping" the foot of an ACE employee to coach her testimony during a sworn deposition. ACE's assistant general counsel, John Roth, was seated next to Mr. Engerrand when the photo was taken. Sanctions are being sought against ACE and its lawyers in this Florida case.

According to a July 30, 2010 Wall Street Journal report, ACE is "one of the world's largest commercial insurers" and has "billions of dollars in extra capital." The insurance conglomerate, which recently reincorporated in Switzerland, owns insurance companies collecting $20 billion in annual premiums, much of that from U.S. policyholders. While ACE's directors and officers could be immune from U.S. shareholder lawsuits and U.S. criminal tax laws, the ACE Insurance Group employs a cadre of lawyers to fight policyholders in U.S. courts. Currently, ACE is the subject of or involved in hundreds of lawsuits in the U.S. alone.
